Totally Buggin' At 3 Am? As if!

If you're still watching TV when midnight rolls around, there's really no telling what you'll end up watching.  Last night's midnight movie was Clueless.  As in 1995.  Such ridiculousness.

Best quote: "I feel like such a heifer. I had two bowls of Special K, 3 pieces of turkey bacon, a handful of popcorn, 5 peanut butter M&M's and like 3 pieces of licorice."  Umm really?  As if.

Did I own the VHS?  Duh.  I am sure I had to beg my mother to make that purchase.  Mom, I'm sorry if I made a scene in the store.  I was like totally buggin'.

Truth be told, I played that tape over and over and over.  Why?  Because, despite not understanding the blatantly inappropriate commentary (which thankfully must have gone right over my adolescent head), what I did glean from the movie was how fun it looked to get dressed up and go on a date.

Hey, I did that this weekend! (Desperate attempt to connect Clueless and my real life? Check!)  My boyfriend manfriend, Chris, took me to the Toledo Zoo for a benefit on Friday.  Yes, attire has changed significantly since they filmed Clueless in 1995 (goodbye, scrunchies), but who doesn't love a huge party with enough food to feed... well, the entire Zoo.  No, we didn't feed the animals.

My manfriend and me @ Toledo Zoo

Parties are fun.  Driving back to Chicagoland the next day = not so much.

And I would like to announce that I have now discovered my favorite sunglasses in my personal sunglasses career.  This is history, people.

Ralph Lauren's Ralph line... $99.00 on Zappos.  Under $20 in store.  Where, you ask?  Oh, just at my good friend, TJ's.  Aka TJ Maxx.  We're on a first name basis.  Seriously, go hit up your closest TJ.  Go.  Right now.  Run.

Speaking of fashion, I have a confession to make.  I committed a fashion no-no that the cast of Clueless would have undoubtedly shunned me for (if they hadn't found 100 reasons to do that already).  I wore the same dress two days in a row.  Yep, you heard read me right.  I wore this dress to the Zoo benefit on Friday night -- then in the car for 5 hours the next day -- and then to my cousin's grad party on Saturday.  How did this happen?  I'd like to say it was done on purpose or because the dress is ridiculously comfortable (which it is), but in all honesty I was just a doofus when I packed for Toledo and ended up with 5 pairs of shoes but only 1 dress.  Silly, Carly.

*Thanks to the photography skills of my cousin's friend

Since I've briefly talked about the changing fashion trends in the past 15 years, let me briefly bring us back to late night television. One word.  Pajamajeans.  Pajama + Jeans = Pajamajeans.  Psh.  As if.  I cannot condone this.

Sidenote.  What's on the docket for the next few days?  Bird art cards (yes, I put birds on more things), a horse trail photoshoot with my manfriend, more recipes, and a cute, lovey gift that I'm dying to tell you about but have to wait until its recipient receives it in the mail.

  1. Haha. I love this post. I would have been extremely shunned by the girls in clueless since I the same dress every day for 90 days. It happens :)

  2. Haha! You're right, I forgot about that! So funny. Well, hey, Cher might have made you her new "BFF" because she was "way" into fundraising and charity toward the end of the movie! So maybe you'd be let off the hook since your had a good cause to wear the same dress for! :)
