6 Skinny Cocktail Recipes You'll Love

Pin It Print Friendly and PDF
Not sure if you'd noticed, but today's Friday. You're probably shedding tears of joy right now, aren't you? Me too, folks, me too. I'm pretty sure Friday is my favorite day of the week, simply because there's so much anticipation for the next few days of not working. And by not working, I mean exercising, baking/cooking/making things/taking pictures for this blog, finishing my book and/or editing, doing laundry... WAIT, stop, Carly! Now you're just depressing everybody. The weekend is supposed to be about relaxing... right?

Apparently my way of sending you all off to relax is by getting you drunk. Seriously - I looked it up. I've given you cocktail recipes every Friday for almost the entire summer. No, I'm not trying to kill you.

How about, instead of shoving just one recipe in your face, I give you 6? Look, now you have choices! People love choices! It's true, I asked my mom!

P.S. If thou goest shopping this weekend, I charge thee to instagram/tweet a picture of thy shopping cart with the hashtag #inmycart.

P.S.S. Apparently, Old English and talking about social media don't exactly mix well. Oh well. These drinks do!

1. Blueberry Chambord Cocktail

2. Red In The Morning Cocktail (Sparkling Vodka Sunrise)

3. Whiskey Sweet 'N' Sour

4. Moonlight Basil Mojito

5. Skinny Strawberry Daiquiri

6. Purple People Drinker

Amazing (and Revenge-like, obsessed much?) Infinity Ring. Really, though... was "infinity" becoming a design trend and then the show Revenge ripped it off, or did the show create that wave? Power.

Canon Camera Lens Mugs. Darn. Can somebody start making these for Nikon lenses? Please?

Flower String Lights. I would be content with a pile of these sitting in the corner of my bedroom. They look so soft!

Soda Jerk Chandelier. Yeah, those are old school soda bottles. Yeah, they're upside down. No, it's not a DIY... yet. Check it out at Anthropologie for something to swoon over.

Recipe | 5 Cheap and Healthy Dishes (Sorry Paula Deen)

Pin It Print Friendly and PDF
Paula Deen has Type II diabetes. Shocker. She's quoted saying to the New York Post, "Not everybody can afford to pay $58 for prime rib or $650 for a bottle of wine. My friends and I cook for regular families who worry about feeding their kids and paying the bills."

Oh, Paula. Your greasy, fat-saturated food done gone to yo head.

Did she really just suggest that the only way to cook for cheap is to shove calories and fat down your family's throat? Dear Paula: You're fired.

We're done with you. Butter is NOT everything.

In the interest of telling Paula to "fudge" off, here are a few successful attempts to prove her wrong. All of the following meals are healthy and can serve a family for less than ten dollars...

Skinny Monkey - A great dessert that tastes just like Ben & Jerry's Chunky Monkey -- without all of the calories.
Ingredients: Low Fat Banana Pudding, Skim Milk, Bananas, Walnuts, Optional Chocolate Chips

Greek Chicken Garlic Salad An easy, tangy, filling salad that doesn't even require you to buy fresh chicken breasts!
Ingredients: Canned chicken, garlic, lettuce, nuts, feta cheese, olive oil, balsamic vinegar

Chickpea Based Cookie Dough - A dessert that tastes just like Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. Use this as a dip or eat with a spoon! Instead of butter, oil, and eggs, this recipe uses Chickpeas, which are extremely nutritious.
Ingredients: 1 Can of Chick Peas, Cashew (or Peanut) butter, Light Brown Sugar, Baking Soda, Vanilla Extract, Optional Chocolate Chips

Curried Lentil Soup - A hearty soup that satisfies your salt/garlic cravings and will fill your stomach without buttery, meaty calories.
Ingredients: Water, dried lentils, sharp cheddar cheese, curry powder, white onion

Grilled Eggplant with Sharp Cheddar and Vine Ripened Tomatoes - Tastes like a good old sandwich but uses eggplant in place of bread/buns!
Ingredients: Eggplant, Olive Oil, Basil, Garlic, Vine Ripened (or regular) Tomatoes

Sidenote: For a hilarious satire of Paula Deen's recipes, check out Funny or Die.
